Speaking of the Fitzgerald's...

The most refined lady bugs do it, when a gentleman calls

I've been listening to the music from the film, Midnight in Paris, on repeat for about a day now. How? Might you ask? Someone was kind enough to track down all of the songs used in the film (and their originals) and compile a 52 song playlist that supplies me with relaxing music for about 2.9 hours. It's pretty much amazing. This is the same guy who made pizza and drank wine with me on New Year's Eve and watched the movie with me, all without complaining.

The film, though not one of Woody Allen's best, but certainly not one of his worst, started my newly rediscovered love and appreciation for Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Stein and all of the allure of Paris in the '20s (granted, that love has been there for quite some time, but the film proved a good reminder). The characters in the film are complete - yet loveable -  parodies of the great artists we've so grown to love. Hemingway, of course, is the best.

Think about it.

Ithaca is gorges

It's hard to get back to reality after some time away from home, having so much fun and enjoying some relaxation. Spending this past weekend in Ithaca was a real treat, though not exactly what we expected. I anticipated Ithaca to be a quaint little town but in reality it is a hodgepodge of a city that reflects both the old and new. There was snow on the ground, Cayuga lake is serene (though hard to really appreciate it with whipping winds), the wine is delicious, and the Ithaca Bakery provided us with unrivaled treats. And we did make it home with some bargain books (shocking). Also, there is something to be said about car rides with great music, stimulating conversation, and comfortable silences. All in all, I'd say our winter adventure was a success.

Adventure Time

Because I am a firm believer in spending money on experiences rather than material things (okay, except for maybe clothes, they were are my weakness) this weekend my boyfriend and I are taking a trip up to Ithaca for some winter fun. We love adventuring but neither one of us is fond of winter, so we thought we'd shake things up by combining something we love, with something we don't particularly enjoy. Thanks to the lovely Mia, we have a whole month's worth of activities and sights to experience while we freeze (it's supposed to be 15 degrees!) our butts off this weekend. I am so excited to get away, that this Friday is taking it's sweet time to be over and done with. I can't wait to get home from work, bake up some delish banana muffins (and other snacks) for the car ride, pack, and start the adventure!
